Tackling the issue of misbehaviour at Alahalli School

The school cabinet at Alahalli works actively and effectively for student welfare. Addressing all the major issues taking shape in the school, the cabinet has put forth all possible efforts to rectify them with the help of teachers.
One major issue they faced was caused by a bunch of boys; they lurked around the school, smoking and pelting stones at classroom windows. Several students were injured because of this.
The HM and cabinet handled the case with compassion and handed the group over to the police to effectively eradicate the problem. They have since been tended to and have not caused any issues for the school.

Eye care for the students of Nekarara Colony School

In countries like India, health issues such as weak eyesight, hearing problems, and speech impediments are common.
Keeping this in mind, the Quess Foundation conducted medical tests in the Nekarara colony school, where 20 students were found to have gravely poor eyesight. They had been suffering from a hazy vision due to a lack of resources and awareness.
They have now successfully been prescribed glasses sponsored by the Quess foundation.
Among them is a girl named Anjali, who is only 11 years old and was hit by a stone in her eye. Since then, she has been suffering from farsightedness and migraines. This affected her academics, too.
Her medical ailments were immediately discovered and tended to. Since then, she hasn’t complained about headaches and is on her way to becoming a teacher someday.

A story of compassion and care at Konanakunte

Over the last two decades, Konanakunte has undergone a tremendous transition. From a private area on the city outskirts to a partially developed, semi-urban residential zone, it has transformed and how. The school students are learning to take charge of their well-being.

One fine morning, two students were playing on the ground; one of them fell and got injured and started bleeding profusely. The health supervisor tended to him and took him to the nearby hospital.

Four members of the cabinet took him to the hospital, where he got 24 stitches however, he showed signs of a speedy recovery. He was only excited to recover and started to come to school almost as soon as he received the green signal from the doctor.

The student, his family, and teachers expressed gratitude towards the cabinet for taking urgent steps in the emergency hour. The school cabinet of Konankunte showed their alertness when concerned with a student’s life.

Preparing the next generation of leaders of change

Puttenahalli is a suburban area in Bangalore, Karnataka (India). It remained a rural area until the 1970s. Majority of the locality depends on occupations such as carpentry, painting, farming, gardening, and housekeeping. But, classifying still as a rudimentary economy, the people of Puttenhali often deal with issues with no accessible resolution.

To act as the pioneer for change and better living, GMPS Puttenahalli School formed a cabinet on 9th July 2020.

Every year, the school holds elections to identify young and capable leaders. Clubbed with strong aspirations such as becoming teachers, doctors, and IPS officers, they work at the ground level to understand and resolve immediate problems.

The cabinet takes an active role in maintaining cleanliness and reducing waste. Mindful food allocation ensures full-consumption and minimal to no wastage. The uniform is essentialized and provided to all, ensuring commonality, discipline, and neutral ground for the students. Discipline is also maintained. When students are found not wearing the uniform, they are fined ₹15 for the same. Cleanliness is ingrained in their daily routine, ensuring they do not form unhygienic or poor health habits.

The cabinet has addressed serious locality issues, such as garbage piling. The school’s backyard was used as an open garbage disposal area by the students and residents.

The cabinet wrote a letter to the BBMP, signed and stamped by the Headmaster, requesting to relocate the dump. The BBMP officials immediately took action and removed the garbage pile within two days.

Snakes too often visited the campus. The cabinet again with conjoined efforts from the local government, cleared the area and ensured a snake-free zone for the children.
